The masterminds behind Thanks for Dying are screening the feature film this Thursday, open  to the public for just $5!

I had a ton of fun working on the project, creating my character “Chet” alongside all of the other Lord Dynamite (Spontaneous Productions) improvisors.  We improvised all of the dialogue, and I love how it turned out.

J Edgar Hoover Cartoon

Ladies and Gentlemen, I will be appearing (briefly) in Clint Eastwood’s next movie! I just shot my scene for J. Edgar, the story of Hoover’s ascendance as the director of the FBI.  The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the titular character and a host of other acting greats including Dame Judi Dench, Naomi Watts, and Armie Hammer.

My role is tiny (“Theater Cashier”), and I’ve been keeping it a poorly guarded secret for the past month.  I’m thrilled to be in my first studio feature! Look for me during the manhunt sequence. Don’t blink…

Side note: I recently acted in the musical short film Someplace Better Than Here, directed by Devin Maurer. Devin’s brother is Josh Lucas, who plays Charles Lindbergh in the feature.

Today was the last day of photography on the short film “Someplace Better Than Here.”  All around, the project was a joy to be a part of, and I’m sure it will turn out brilliantly. A rough cut is expected in time for festival submissions in December, so keep your eyes peeled for a screening in the not-too-distant future!

I just left the set of “Someplace Better Than Here,” a comedic short film with a musical twist. It was a great day with an amazing cast and crew.

I’m playing an overbearing hipster christian on the weekend of his wedding. Finally a groom role and a religious zealot role in one!

The project is based on the real life experiences writer Tiffany Barrett, who also plays the heroine-bride.  Her friend and first-time collaborator, Devin Maurer, is directing the film.  Shot on 35mm film, the piece looks amazing thanks to the first rate technical crew.

New Reel

January 29, 2010, in Film, Television, Videos,

Several of my projects from 2009 are mired in post-production, but the footage marches on in my demo reel. You can see the video here, on the Reel page (http://Reel.Tom-Christensen.com), or on YouTube. Enjoy!

**Updated 3/19/2010

The following is a list of Casting Directors who have called in actors from casting workshops. This is a list I compiled from the “brag boards” of several companies who provide the workshops, so the information is only as valid as they are honest.

If you have taken a workshop and the CD called you in for an audition, leave a comment and I’ll update the list.

I play the affected heir to a slain father in this modern-noir comedic murder mystery.

Following a successful premier at the NYU Writers’ Showcase in Los Angeles, the one-act play “The Mystery of Edward’s Manner” has been reinvented as a short film.

The project is a film-first for co-writer Will Matthews, who created the play with fellow writer/performer Cassandra Smith.
